Well, me and Monika got around to getting our yard together. Sometimes we get to it early, and sometimes later than usual, but this year I think we made out pretty damn good. Planted the veggies two weeks ago, and got flowers (most of them, but still some work to do) and mulch (three yards moved by hand) into the yard before Memorial Day. I call that a success. It’s always tough, and I can’t exactly say that I find inherent pleasure in moving mulch, digging holes, and general yard cleanup any more than I enjoy cleaning a toilet bowl. But I do love the feeling of accomplishment when a dirty job get done, and you can relax, sit down and enjoy it.
Here are some of the pics, in random order. Expect progress reports.
One of our trees surrounded by perennials that hopefully one day will eliminate the need for any mulch at all.
The organic vegetable garden this year. The usual inhabitants: cukes, tomatoes (4 kinds), peppers (4 kinds), hops climbing the fence (3 kinds), bush beans, eggplant (2 kinds), kale, and brussel sprouts.
This bed is filled with all our perrennials that made it through a tough winter. Some of them did not. Soon, all the mulch will be obscured with the color of annuals blooming.
This years succulent wall. Some made it through the winter, but others I had to replant because they weren’t so lucky. I think this winter, I’ll bring them inside.
Another project in the making. this old claw foot tub used to be our herb garden. Instead, we’ve decided to clean it up and turn it into a fountain. Still working on that.
Our berry garden. Strawberries and Golden Raspberries.
Um, a cat and some flowers that hopefully will grow as large as the, ummm, cat.
Okay, about this. This is a project that we’re going to try really hard to get done this summer. We’ve got a lot of work to do, but we’ve gotten a lot done already. Someday, this is going to be a two level pond garden with a waterfall, sitting area, and surrounded in trees and bamboo.
The decorations from my travels in life. they might be a little WT, but I like them.
